Guiding the new breed of Brunei Leaders

In terms of crisis we have to start now. We should not be complacent because of the dependency on oil and gas. We have to think smart and think about how we want to see ourselves in the future five to ten years down the line," said by Dr Hjh Mona Yati Dato Seri Laila Jasa Hj Kassim, head of strategic quality and assurance management unit of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD),

Being a leader, she said, means being accountable for your actions.

"Leaders affect cultural change. As a leader you need to have explicit values. If subordinates look at you and don't see an iota of ethics, then they would see a leader that is hypocritical," she said.

She said that as a leader, there should be a plan that contains a set of values that are important to the organisation and individuals. "Reflect on it and come up with the critical ones that will set a template for your organisation," she said. - Brunei Times
